Humberstone Speedway Unveils 58th Season Plan

PORT COLBORNE, ONT – The Humberstone Speedway is thrilled to announce the schedule of their 58th Season at the renowned oval in Port Colborne, Ontario.

The bustling season is set to commence on Sunday April 30th at 1:00pm, as ATTAR Metals presents the 2nd annual Dawn of Destruction. A generous $1,000 awaits the winner of the Enduro, along with the 2nd Construction Crush Off Championships. Not to mention the Flag Pole Race, Ladies Race, Side By Side race and much more. The 58th season opener, presented by Country 89, will take place on Sunday May 21st. It will feature race number one for the BEI Lightning Series for the Sportsman, along with a comprehensive card of RUSH Late Models, Street Stocks, Mini Stocks, Pro 4 Trucks and a 4 Cylinder Demolition Derby. Arrive at 3:00pm for a pre-race Tail Gate Party, which showcases a Motorcycle Show and Kids Power Wheel Races. “M” license holders will be granted discounted admission. Racing will commence sharply at 6:30pm. The month of May will draw to a close on May 28 with a full card and race number one of the Cooper Motorsports Minvans of Mayhem Series.

June 4th will witness the first of two visits from the Southern Ontario Sprints. CAA Night on June 11th will feature the Mod Lites, and Performance ATV will present the first side-by-side UTV race in Niagara! On June 18th, the Father’s Day Special will offer a full card, Vintage Cars and a 40 lap Eve of Destruction Enduro Qualifier. The top five in the Enduro will secure the top five starting positions for the Eve of Destruction on September 17th. The month of June will come to an end on June 25th as J.N’E Towing presents the Crate Sprint Cars, a full card of races and race two of the Cooper Motorsports Minivans of Mayhem Series.

On July 2nd, Humberstone Speedway will be presenting a $1,000 to win Showdown in Memory of Harold Sonnenberg. Specials with a $1,000 prize for all classes, along with the Race of Champions Sportsman Tour. A Kids Power Wheel Race will also take place on that night. July 9th will feature a full card, along with a racers only “Grudge Match” Demolition Derby and Time Trials for the All Canadian Championships for the Mini Stocks and Pro 4 Trucks. July 16th will host Time Trials for the All Canadian Championships for the RUSH Late Models. July 23rd will be Fan Appreciation Night, featuring $1 Hot Dogs presented by Verge Insurance. It will also include All Canadian Championships Time Trials for the Street Stocks and a Performance ATC side-by-side UTV Race. July 30th will offer a full card, along with the second visit of the season by the Crate Sprint Cars. That night will also feature Time Trials for the Sportsman for the All Canadian Championships and round three of the Cooper Motorsports Minivans of Mayhem Series.

August 6th will host the All Canadian Championships. Vintage Cars will be part of the program, along with a five-star show and Humberstone’s Salute to the Troops, honoring the Wounded Warriors of Canada. August 13th will mark the second visit of the season for the Southern Ontario Sprints. August 20th will present a full show, along with Mod Lites and round four of the Minvan Mayhem Series. The month of August will conclude with a two-day special for the Pete Cosco Memorial Weekend. On Saturday August 26th, Rankin Construction presents the inaugural visit by the Race of Champions Dirt Series Big Block Modifieds, along with a RoC Sportsman Tour event and the Mini Stocks. Sunday August 27th will be the Pete Cosco Memorial for the Modifieds, pitting the Big Blocks against the 358 Small Blocks. Cosco Haulage Ltd will be sponsoring the racing action on August 27th.

Labor Day Weekend arrives with Season Championships for all divisions. September 10th will showcase the annual Safecracker 100, presented by Mike Knapp Ford. The Sportsman Super DIRTcar Series will be on hand for a 100 lap shootout. September 17th will be the annual day of destruction and mayhem as ATTR Metals presents the annual Eve of Destruction, one of Canada’s wildest Motorsports events, including a Kids Power Wheels Demolition Derby.

A significant change for 2017 will occur at the admission gate, where anyone 18 years of age and under will be admitted free on race nights, starting on May 21st. “Allowing age 18 and under free admission will hopefully attract High School students in the region to come out and join us for a Sunday night of fun,” states General Manager Bob Davidson. “Humberstone is working diligently to keep costs down, making us the most affordable family entertainment in the region,” Davidson continued. “With this, we are looking to expand both our fan base and driver rosters, and that’s what we need to do to keep the sport growing,” Davidson explained.
