The King of Dirt Sportsman Gets DIRTcar Approval

FONDA, NY – King Of Dirt Racing promoter Rob Hazer has collaborated closely with DIRTcar Racing Director of Series and Sanctioning Mike Perotte and DIRTcar Series event director Cory Reed to obtain the sanction for the KOD tour as the DIRTcar East Region in 2017.

This alliance between King Of Dirt Racing and DIRTcar Racing is constructing a regionalized touring system for the Sportsman Modified division. King Of Dirt will act as the DIRTcar East Region, enabling drivers who follow the KOD Sportsman tour to accumulate points towards the overall Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman title.

“My discussions with Mike and Cory were highly productive. They are outstanding individuals who are striving to establish regionalized programs for divisions like Sportsman Modifieds, and we seamlessly fit into their plan. I’m both honored and thrilled about the opportunity to present this to the drivers who follow King Of Dirt Racing,” stated KOD Promoter Rob Hazer.

The way it operates is rather straightforward; nothing changes for King Of Dirt Racing, as it’s business as usual since the series largely mirrors the DIRTcar rules. The King Of Dirt Racing point system remains unchanged, and all finishes along with the current point standings will be reported to DIRTcar point’s keeper Gary Spaid.

At the conclusion of the King Of Dirt Racing point season for the Sportsman Modifieds, drivers will earn bonus points towards the overall Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman chase through a scheduled six ‘challenge’ or ‘combined’ races in the autumn. The top 25 drivers in the KOD Sportsman Modified point standings will receive the bonus points prior to the aforementioned fall specials, which include Fulton Outlaw 200, Weedsport, Brewerton, Super Dirt Week at Oswego, Brockville, and The Dirt Track at Charlotte.

“I was impressed by the proposed setup of the regions and how it all functioned when Cory Reed explained it to me. It offers KOD drivers an opportunity to be part of some remarkable races at the end of the season, and he elaborated on many other advantages of being the DIRTcar East Region,” continued KOD Promoter Rob Hazer.

The benefits provided to King Of Dirt Racing tour drivers are certain to catch attention, beginning with the KOD champion being guaranteed a starting position at the Super Dirt Week Championship event at Oswego, as well as being invited to the DIRTcar banquet to be recognized as the region champion.

The top drivers from the King Of Dirt Racing Sportsman tour will be eligible for provisional starter status available for each of the six ‘challenge’ races in the fall. DIRTcar reserves four provisional spots per race for the top 12 in points.

On top of these benefits, any driver who wins a race on the King Of Dirt Racing tour, which serves as the DIRTcar East Tour, will be guaranteed a starting position in the All-Star Invitational at the Dirt Track at Charlotte during the World Short Track Championships.

“When Cory mentioned that our champion would be a guaranteed starter at Super Dirt Week, I was immediately humbled that someone could represent our series and region among the best drivers the Sportsman Modified division has to offer. When he informed me about the guaranteed starting spots in Charlotte for each feature winner on the King Of Dirt tour, I was truly astonished. That’s incredibly amazing,” continued Rob Hazer.

Each King Of Dirt Racing Sportsman Modified driver who participates in a series race will be eligible for the DIRTcar crate motor giveaway. The more races a driver competes in, the more entries they receive for the crate motor giveaway. For instance; if they run eight races, they receive 8 entries.

Drivers will also have the opportunity to earn bonus points by competing throughout the summer in other regional races. Any driver from KOD, which serves as the DIRTcar East Region, who participates in DIRTcar Sportsman Series events in the North, Central, or West regions will earn 20 bonus points towards their bonus points.

Drivers may compete in as many DIRTcar Sportsman Series events as they desire and earn additional points towards the Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman championship by competing in regions outside their specific region. DIRTcar will award 20 bonus points per attempt, up to a maximum of five for a total of 100 bonus points. These will be added to a driver’s home track and regional bonus point total.

“I believe the alliance with DIRTcar will prove highly beneficial for King Of Dirt drivers and tracks. Drivers can participate in the eight scheduled KOD races and receive rewards from both the series and DIRTcar now, while tracks might witness some new names attempting to earn bonus points. I’ve been endeavoring to attract some of DIRTcar’s top drivers of the Sportsman division to the Nationals for a while. Perhaps they’ll challenge themselves this year since it’s worth DIRTcar points,” concluded Rob Hazer, the KOD promoter.

2017 will pose the most demanding year yet for drivers vying to earn the King Of Dirt Racing Sportsman Modified crown. The alliance with DIRTcar Racing for the East Region through KOD is certain to draw out the heavyweights at each event.
