NASCAR Grants $10K to Devil’s Bowl Speedway

DAYTONA BEACH, FL – Vermont’s Devil’s Bowl Speedway has achieved its very first “win” in the 2017 stock car racing season. On Saturday, February 18, during a conference held at The Plaza Hotel in Daytona Beach, Fla., an announcement was made that the Rutland County facility has been granted a generous sum of $10,000 by NASCAR for capital enhancements and facility upgrades.

Devil’s Bowl Speedway is entering its 51st season of stock car racing in 2017 and is marking its seventh consecutive year under the sanction of NASCAR. Positioned on Route 22A in the idyllic West Haven, Vt., this venue holds the distinctive honor of being the sole facility in North America that boasts two weekly short tracks – a 1/2-mile Asphalt Track and a 3/10-mile Dirt Track – both competing in the grassroots NASCAR Whelen All-American Series program.

The $10,000 grant has been specifically designated to aid in the completion of two significant projects at Devil’s Bowl Speedway. Once accomplished, a technical inspection building – the framework of which was erected in 2015 – will offer officials and race teams a pit area garage to carry out pre-race and post-race tasks. Additionally, a large portion of the pavement in the pit area that has suffered damage due to weather and erosion will be excavated and replaced.

Devil’s Bowl Speedway was among the 10 tracks in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series chosen to receive the capital improvement grant. The geographical spread of the tracks receiving these funds is truly extensive, encompassing Alaska Raceway Park near Anchorage, Michigan’s Berlin Raceway, East Carolina Motor Speedway in North Carolina, New Hampshire’s Lee USA Speedway, Meridian Speedway in Idaho, Motor Mile Speedway in Virginia, Wisconsin’s Spring Lake Speedway, Tucson Speedway in Arizona, and Canada’s Eastbound International Speedway in Newfoundland & Labrador. Devil’s Bowl Speedway previously received a NASCAR grant back in 2012.

“It’s an absolute honor to receive the capital improvement funding once again,” stated Devil’s Bowl Speedway promoter Mike Bruno. “We are wholeheartedly committed to the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series, and initiatives like this are precisely the reason. NASCAR treats our race teams exceptionally well, and it’s wonderful that they’re also reinvesting in the tracks. We are constantly striving for improvement at Devil’s Bowl, and the grant money proves to be an immense assistance.”

Devil’s Bowl Speedway’s NASCAR Whelen All-American Series stock car racing season commences on Sunday, May 7 at 1:30 p.m. with the highly awaited return of the historic “Spring Green” event. Weekly racing gets underway on Memorial Day weekend, May 27-28, every Saturday night and Sunday night.
